SHAHINA

Paadam onnu; oru vilapam is a 2003 Indian Malayalam movie directed by T.V Chandran. Shahina is a teenage muslim girl studying in the tenth grade, when her relatives and the community chiefs decided her to marry to a boy named Rasaq. Rasaq is already married and the father of a child. He is trying to leave for the Gulf in search of a job. He decided to get married again so he can use the dowry to fund his trip. Shahina knows nothing about married life and her interest still lie in attending school. Shahina reacts violently to the proposal because she wants to continue her studies. In spite of her mothers sympathy, especially the men, try to dissuade her from her studies. For them her defiance amounts to deviant behavior. Shahina is forced to give in. Razaq meets with repeated failure in his attempts to consummate his marriage with Shahina because, sex is something the girl can not make sense of. His very sight provokes revulsion in her. While she sleeps Razaq fulfills his sexual desire over  Shahina. She turns hysterical in anger. He uses her behavior as a pretext to divorce her. He takes her back home where Shahina resumes her studies. On the first day of her public exam, she slumps on her desk. A medical examination reveals that she is pregnant. She is accused of adultary and ostracized.   This film is very much related to the "Arraignment of the Men"
